St. Marcus teachers are closing the academic gap.
In last year’s Forward exam results, Latoya Young, a 5th grade English Teacher, propelled her students to achieve a 1.78 average percentile increase compared to students statewide. Alex Theiler is a 7th grade English Teacher whose students saw an 8% increase in students at or above grade level and a 2.78 average percentile increase compared to students statewide. Jayda Hoerres is an 8th grade Math Teacher, and her students saw a 5% increase in students at or above grade level and a 3.29 average percentile increase compared to students statewide. Andrew Becker is the Dean of Curriculum & Instruction at the 7th & 8th grade level. He coaches all three of these teachers. Mr. Becker is finishing his MBA in educational leadership at MSOE, and is the driver of instructional excellence at the middle school level.
We praise God for every teacher at St. Marcus who is training children in academic excellence, and most importantly, demonstrating what putting Christ first looks like. Thank you, teachers, and thank you to everyone who invests in the work of delivering Christ-centered, high-quality education.
