Why did St. Marcus choose Just Give?

There is only a 3% fee for the processing and credit card costs, which St. Marcus would incur if we processed online donations directly. There are no additional monthly, set up or per transaction fees. Online giving can reduce St. Marcus’ administrative costs.

Gifts of Stock
Gifts of securities or other real property are a valuable way to support
St. Marcus School. Donors receive tax deductions based on the fair market value of the property at the time of the gift and avoid capital gains tax on appreciated property. St. Marcus School is a 501(c) 3 tax- exempt organization. Gifts to St. Marcus School are deductible for federal income, gift, and estate tax purposes to the full extent allowed under the applicable section of the Internal Revenue Code. Please contact the Office of Development for more detailed information.


Matching Gifts
Many donors work for “Matching Gift Companies”. A matching gift is a gift from a corporate or community employer that parallels your gift to a charitable cause. Some employers match gifts from retired employees as well. Many employers match gifts to educational institutions such as St. Marcus School. Please ask your employer about their matching gifts guidelines. If available, you should obtain a matching gift form from the company’s personnel office, fill it in where required, and mail it with your gift. Please inform St. Marcus that the gift will be matched at the time of the donation. The Office of Development will then certify the receipt of the gift and return the form to the company. Gifts in Kind
St. Marcus accepts donations of technology, equipment, furniture, library books and other items that are new or in excellent condition and are relevant to the educational program and mission of St. Marcus School. All gifts will be acknowledged without value, which will be determined by the donor.


Planned Giving
Even if you love the state where you live, should it be your major beneficiary?
Consider a future gift. Planned giving can be a way to reduce or avoid estate and inheritance taxes and help to insure the long-term charitable giving to St. Marcus School. There are many vehicles through which a planned gift can be made. Bequests, life insurance policies, individual retirement accounts (IRA’s), and charitable trusts are all popular methods. Donors are encouraged to consult their financial or legal advisors when considering these types of gifts.

Participate in the “Take Charge of Education program at Target. Obtain a Target Visa and designate St. Marcus School as the recipient of the “Take Charge of Education” program. Target will donate an amount equal to 1% of Target Visa and Target Guest Card purchases made at Target and target.com, and ½ % of Target Visa purchases made elsewhere.
