Personal
I was born and raised in Watertown, WI. It was in fifth grade that my Christian day school teacher suggested to me that I think about the ministry as a vocation and the d esire has never left me. Since our pastor training schools- Northwestern Prep and Northwestern College- were located in Watertown at the time, I lived at home until I headed for our Lutheran seminary in Mequon, WI. for the final four years of my pastorial training. I was married to my wife Sara after my first year of seminary training and the Lord has blessed us with five children- now grown- and 12 grandchildren.
Professional
In 1972, I received my first call into the parish ministry. The call was to serve a mission congregation in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, a suburb of Akron, Ohio. I served there for the first eight and half years of my ministry. The next sixteen and a half years were spent in a rural setting in Mt. Calvary, WI, located eight miles east of Fond du Lac. During much of that period, I also taught part time at Winnebago Lutheran Academy, our Fond du Lac Lutheran High School. After 25 years in the ministry the Lord brought me to Elkhorn and First Evangelical Lutheran Church in the summer of 1997 which I served for the next 12 years.
Having retired from the full-time ministry my wife Sara, my mother-in-law Beverly and I moved in with my daughter Becky, her husband Pastor Paul and their six children. I joined the St. Marcus Congregation and hope to serve here as a blessing in many ways. Above all I hope to share the Word of God and the great news of Jesus to those that want to learn. God has led and blessed me in many ways and I am happy to follow wherever the Lord leads me!
