Due to the COVID-19 outbreaks and the limitations put on groups gathering together, all TPOG events are being put on hold until further notice. Pastor Hein hasn’t figured out a perfect plan as of yet and is still unknown as to how and when he will be doing the weekly bible study. He will be in touch with the regular attendees one something has been firmed up, but in the meantime, please reach out to him with your questions and concerns.
While CFS will continue to provide services for current clients and members, they also have availability to assist more who are experiencing heightened anxiety as a result of the current situation with COVID-19. CFS offers an army of Christian counselors on hand ready to help those who may be struggling. Clinic appointments have shifted to video counseling, and they are working with insurance companies to remove financial barriers. Additionally, they are creating resources including videos, blogs and pamphlets to share a message of calm and resilience during this challenging time. Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity has several specialty volunteer opportunities available. The first 2020 homes will begin on March 30. The opportunities are as follows:
Empower Investments: Need someone with 1-3 day time hours per week to follow up warm leads for Empower Investments program, calling Attorneys, Realtors and other organizations to check in on a monthly basis. Ideally would be comfortable using databases and making phone calls.
Office Help in Volunteer Services: Seeking an ongoing volunteer with 3-4 hours during the day on Thursday or Friday to assist with weekly tasks in the volunteer department, such as background checks and sign-in sheets, as well as other administrative tasks.
Fleet Management: Need someone to perform weekly truck maintenance on MHFH vehicles, logging and reporting issues to staff. Also Develop a system for tracking truck repairs as needed.
Project Management: Assist the ReStore Director in working with a General Contractor to renovate a building to open a ReStore. Responsibilities include managing timelines, monitoring expenses/budget and bridging the gap between general contractor and ReStore Director.
